Children of Men

When I first saw the movie poster and read the description, I thought the movie sounded a little dumb. Then Steve and I went to see it this past weekend based on some of the ratings we found – and we were not disappointed. The movie was *excellent*. I loved the story, the directing, the acting, the great shots throughout, and most of all the subtlety. The Descent

Not your typical horror movie. I saw this one when the film festival was in town, and it is an EXCELLENT movie. I think I screamed out load for the very first time ever in a movie theater. The director did a fantastic job of catching you off guard and managed to create some creepy characters that are the culmination of everything deemed scary in the past 20 years. Even if you don’t like horror films you will be thoroughly entertained by this one. It’s a must see. IMDB: The Descent

Lemony Snicket

Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events turned out to be better than I expected. You know how most Jim Carrey movies focus on him way too much? Well this one didn’t do that, his character was not the focus. Instead the children got front stage (as I imagine they were in the book, which I have not read). Visually this movie was full of eye candy. I just loved every scene, rich with texture and depth. The set and special effects were fabulous. I thought the girl (Emily Browning) was very beautiful.
