Day Three, A Short Day

Rome We woke up pretty late, like 1:00 or so, which means that we didn’t make it out of the apartment until about 3:00. Unfortunately most restaurants close between 3:00 and 8:00. We did manage to find an open place in a touristy area, on Piazza Novana (pictured).

After eating we sought out a book store where we could buy a WhaiWhai book, the Ruyi. The book takes you on a treasure hunt through Rome, telling you stories and history along the way. To participate you need to use texting on your cell phone, and we couldn’t figure out how to get it to work. So we sent WhaiWhai and email and just walked around.

Since we had a late start to the day we didn’t have much time and weren’t really hungry for dinner. We ended up at Cavour 313, another enoteca, for several hours of wine drinking, chatting and the making of many jokes. Our server gave us great wine recommendations and managed to joke around with us quite a bit.

On the way back to the apartment we stopped at Trevi Fountain. It was about 2am and there were very few people around. During the day it was nearly impossible to get close. I really enjoyed seeing it at night, felt like it was all ours for a few moments.
